Works: Construction of an artificial badger sett, closure of existing sett and site clearance
Summary: Akers Land & Ecology Ltd were commissioned to carry out badger sett mitigation works including the construction of an artificial badger sett incorporating four nesting chambers and four entrances.
We were also tasked with closing down the existing sett which included installing a chain link fencing and one way badger gates. Once the existing sett was deemed clear, following a period of monitoring, we excavated it in collaboration with an ecologist and overseen by a Natural England representative.
Following completion of the badger sett mitigation works Stonebond Properties Ltd extended our contract to include site clearance. We safely felled, dismantled and cleared over 20 large trees and their stumps, cleared brambles and overgrown laurel hedgerows leaving the site ready for development.
